An incredible video posted on social media showed the city skyline with fireworks. The video clip, taken from an apartment on the 8th floor, pans from west to east as dozens of fireworks shoot into the air.

James Flynn, who captured the beautiful video, said he has not seen a show like this since 2005.

“The video was taken at midnight from the 8th floor of the Marseilles apartment building on the other side of the northern tip of the city looking for South Africa,” Flynn told NOLA.com. “The only show that was comparable in 2005 was by the people who were able to return to the city after Katrina. We know how to celebrate here in this big city despite disasters, posters and pestilents (fuel, eg BP Oil) . up like the mighty Mississippi River. ‘
