Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell spoke Thursday in a virtual talk hosted by the Princeton University Bendheim Center for Finance.

The talk comes at a crucial time for the Federal Reserve, which is committed to its current policy in December until it sees significant progress in terms of inflation and employment.

As part of its response to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Fed has raised its short-term default rate to near zero and buys at least $ 120 billion worth of bonds every month. In recent speeches, some Fed officials have said that they are bouncing the economy back strongly this year, which could potentially lead to the removal of some of the accommodation.
