Long-term Cyberpunk 2077 sales projection looks bleak, says analyst

Cyberpunk 2077 has already recovered its development costs and made CD Projekt RED profit, but long-term performance remains a question mark. The title was removed from the PlayStation Store three months ago, and there is still no ETA for its return. Boonop, Cyberpunk 2077Steam player base has experienced a significant decline – not for long The Witcher III: Wild Hunt‘s performance on the platform. Now, research and analysis firm M Science has joined numerous other analysts to report that the game’s long-term sales projections look bleak.

‘We see a significant slowdown in the pace of digital unit sales Cyberpunk 2077 according to our data, ”senior analyst Corey Barrett emailed The Gamer. ‘We believe the company could have sold as few as 500,000 digital units in the March quarter. This is based on the extent of the delay we observed, taking into account the comments the company made about the initial sales after launch. ”

Barrett acknowledged this Cyberpunk 2077PSN’s delisting could play a role here. “Incremental sales, however, look depressing on other platforms where the title is also listed.”

Compare Cyberpunk 2077With the performance of other heavy hitters, Barrett noted that the natural decline in sales in terms of new digital units for CD Project RED’s title is much higher compared to e.g. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

That said, Barrett thinks CD Project RED can turn things around by releasing Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and aimed at expanding its acceptance on the new platforms.
