Former NFL manager Michael Lombardi, now a writer at The Athletic, recently joined SiriusXMs The wrap and sounds confident that he at least knows what the San Francisco 49ers are is not do with the overall number 3. On March 26, the team traded up to the points ladder and handed over four draws, including its own first round, in the next three drafts to move up nine places from number 12.
The three candidates with the best chance of being San Francisco’s first choice are Justin Fields of Ohio State, Mac Jones of Alabama and Trey Lance of North Dakota, in that order.
Lombardi is convinced, however, that it will not be Fields.
“Can I tell you the news I heard? Justin Fields is not going to be number 3,” Lombardi told Patrick Meagher (h / t to Sasha D. Robinson). “That’s what I heard.”
The author acknowledges that there are skeptics on Twitter who feel he may be wrong. He even has a message for them.
“Where do you get your information?” asks a snarling Lombardi. “Like you have more good resources than me? Good luck. Good luck. I’m just telling you, if it’s not Mac Jones, it’s Trey Lance. So, take it [how] you want to, Patrick. Please do with it what you will. ‘
Fields worked in front of the 49ers and other NFL teams last week, which led him to jump above Jones in the eyes of oddsmakers. Lance will practice ahead of the Niners on Monday, which could increase his chances of being an overall No. 3.

Mac Jones vs. Justin Fields or Trey Lance. This is the big debate when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers and the 2021 NFL draft. Although the latter two names are more likely to excite the fanbase, there is much speculation that the former overall the no. 3 will be. However, one former 49ers defender, cornerback Richard Sherman, does not assume it will be Jones. He actually considers Fields to be the perfect fit for San Francisco, assuming Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are taken with the first two picks. Cornerback Tre’Davious White, the most recent guest on the Cris Collinsworth Podcast, co-hosted by Sherman, also believes the 49ers will pick Fields. It’s not easy to see that San Francisco has handed out several first-round picks

Pro Football Focus has compiled its latest mockery, thanks to analyst Ben Linsey. The San Francisco 49ers are expected to pick up a quarter after their recent trade to third place. They can choose some good options. With Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson almost 1 and 2, San Francisco could go along with Justin Fields of Ohio, Trey Lance of North Dakota or Mac Jones of Alabama. Linsey has San Francisco with the player who was the popular choice among 49ers fans – Fields. ‘Fields’ game was placed under the game

Former NFL QB explains why criticism of Justin Fields, a potential 49ers draft pick, is ‘wandering’

No one questions Justin Fields’ athletics. Some question the former Ohio State quarterback’s ability to quickly switch from college game to pro. Mark Sanchez recently joined The Pat McAfee Show and explains why Fields’ ability to learn an NFL playbook may not last as long as some expect. Maybe all his skeptics, who want to find ways to bring the quarter back, are wrong. “To Justin, this man, Dr. Goldman, he’s a sports psychologist; I spoke to him yesterday,” Sanchez said (c / o to Jordan Cohn of 95.7 The Game). ‘He has some interesting

Much has been said about San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch’s absence from Ohio State’s pro day last week. Instead of traveling to Columbus to see quarterback Justin Fields, a candidate selected along with the team’s overall 3 pick, the duo was in Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s pro day and watched Mac Jones. Why Jones about Fields? “[Just] Talk to Fields’ agent [David Mulugheta] and all, we’ll get another one from him, too, “Shanahan explained to Kirk Larrabee last week. So we will be able to see him. This makes it an easy decision. ‘According to Fields’ agent, the next opportunity will come
