LLCHD reports another death to COVID-19

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Department of Health announced Friday that another resident has died of COVID-19. The death was a man in his 80s who died at home. The total number of deaths in Lancaster County is now 221. On behalf of the City, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird expresses his condolences to his family and friends.

LLCHD reports 45 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lancaster County, bringing the community to 28,086.

Recoveries: 13 343

Weekly positivity rate:

  • February 14 to 20: 24 percent
  • February 21 to 26: 20.7 percent

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 37 with 22 from Lancaster County and 15 from other communities (none on fans).

Vaccine doses administered: more than 76 870

An online COVID-19 registration form for Lancaster County residents is available at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Those who do not have online access or need assistance can call the COVID-19 hotline of LLCHD 402-441-8006 from 08:00 to 16:30 weekdays to register.

The vaccine is not yet available to the general public. As vaccine doses become available, those who are registered will get an appointment to be vaccinated. Appointments for vaccinations depend on the vaccine supply and are not related to the order in which people register. Registration is open to all residents of the province, but those in Phase 1B – 65 years and older and those with underlying medical conditions – are encouraged to register.

The COVID-19 risk disk is half yellow, indicating a moderate risk of the virus spreading. Recommendations include:

  • Careful expansion of interactions with others – outdoor activities preferred
  • Keep wearing a mask and distance yourself when you are around others from outside your household.
  • Visit businesses, events and events only with modifications (ie physical distance, face masks and capacity constraints)
  • Follow CDC Travel Guidelines

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, repeated shaking with cold fever, repeated muscle aches, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. Those who experience any of these symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 are requested to be tested immediately. The testing process begins with a free online risk assessment available at BryanHealth.com, CHIHealth.com or TestNebraska.com.

  • CHI Health St. Elizabeth: Autumn Ridge Family Medicine, 5000 North 26th St. and Southwest Family Health, Aries Drive 1240. Call one of the sites to schedule an appointment: Autumn Ridge, 402-435-5300 and South West Family, 402-420-1300.
  • Test Nebraska: Gateway Mall, 6100 “O” St., northern parking lot of the former Sears store. Tests are done from 08:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Saturday. For more information, call 402-207-9377
