Livonia woman accused of trying to steal COVID vaccines while working as a nurse

DETROIT – A woman from Livonia is charged tries to steal COVID vaccines from TCF center in Detroit, where she worked as a nurse, officials said.

Saeedeh Elahi, 41, from Livonia, is accused of filling two syringes with the Modern COVID-19 vaccine and two vaccination cards in her pocket while she worked at the TCF Center on Monday (March 15).

Detroit police were called to the third floor of the building at about 1:50 p.m. Monday to investigate the alleged incident.

According to another nurse, Elahi, according to authorities, put the vaccines in her pocket and reported it immediately. Elahi works for a contractor and has been hired to administer the vaccine to Detroiters.

“There is simply no excuse for this alleged behavior,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worth said. “The past year has been very stressful for everyone. There is light at the end of the tunnel due to the different vaccines. State and local governments have done their best to vaccinate as many people as possible. This case should send a loud and clear message that this behavior is criminal and will be taken seriously. ‘

Elahi is charged with one count of robbery in a building. She is expected to stand trial Wednesday at the 36th District Court in Detroit Center.
