Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea, player ratings: Mason Mr. Chelsea Man of the Match Mount

The young Mason Mount is an expert goal and important involvement in almost everything Chelsea have been doing all night. He is taking things before our eyes to the next level – and doing so under the great shadow cast by Frank Lampard, who, while absolutely important in his development, was in the right place and at the right time. it is in some ways also an obstacle, certainly as far as public perception is concerned (a la Sarri and Jorginho, though not nearly as extreme).

This is now Mount’s sixth Man of the Match, the most in the team, and fifth in his last eleven starts. He is also taller than Thiago Silva for the highest average score so far this season.

A particularly striking statistic amid all the notable statistics after the match, was that Mount has now scored 20 “goal contributions” in the Premier League for Chelsea (goals + assistants), and that he is the second youngest in club history (i.e. since 1992) is what he did. so to Arjen Robben. Not bad!

Speaking of blooming before our eyes, Christensen plays his best football ever for Chelsea, and follows up his first Man of the Match ever for us with an equally impressive performance.

As he is still only 24, he has plenty of time to not only perform at this level, but still get better and better – and not just as the anchor of a backline of three men.

N’Golo Kanté is a gift, Thomas Tuchel said after the game. I think nothing more needs to be said.
