Trump was charged earlier this month with “inciting rebellion” over the January 6 riots by the US Capitol.

Attorneys Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier of South Carolina and former federal prosecutors Greg Harris, Johnny Gasser and Josh Howard left the defense team by Saturday, a source said it was a mutual decision.

The source said the lawyers left a difference of opinion on the direction of the defense’s argument.

New additions are expected to join in the coming week.

The upheaval built fresh uncertainty into the composition and strategy of Trump’s defense team, while he charged on Jan. 6 with inciting the uprising at the U.S. Capitol.

However, Trump would definitely be acquitted because all but five Republicans in the Senate voted earlier this month to reject the trial.
