Bellator 257 results: Vadim Nemkov retains light heavyweight title with victory over Phil Davis
Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov won the light heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinals and successfully defended his title by no. 3 occupy Phil Davis. The vast majority of the fight was a revolt where Nemkov defeated his opponent 145-63, who defeated Nemkov in their first fight in 2018, by a split decision in Tel Aviv, Israel. Not only was Nemkov’s extensive striking production evident, but he also photographed Davis, a former NCAA All-American wrestler, a handful of times. This was a bit surprising, as the highly decorated wrestler had earlier claimed that he would use wrestling in his game plan. Yagshimuradov was a formidable opponent in the first place and threw powerful blows that Anderson respected. Perhaps Yagshimuradov’s highlight of the fight was a back-to-back heel kick towards the end of the first, which broke and connected Anderson’s guard. Anderson indicated after the fight that it had slightly upset his balance. The second and third rounds were much more prosperous for ‘Overtime’, as he secured a removal and utilized ground and shooter towards the end of the round and returned to the pit with great success in the third.
