Listen to Foo Fighters’ new single ‘Waiting On A War’

Foo Fighters have released their latest single ‘Waiting On A War’ – you can hear the new song below.

The track is the latest taken from the upcoming tenth studio album ‘Medicine At Midnight’ which will be released on February 5th.

The forerunner of Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, shared a few words about the broader meaning behind the track in a statement first released by the orchestra yesterday (January 13).

“As a kid growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I was always afraid of war,” he wrote. ‘I had nightmares of missiles in the air and soldiers in my backyard, probably caused by the political tensions of the early 1980s and my proximity to the National Capital. My youth was spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future. ”

‘Waiting On A War’ was released today (January 14) as promised, and you can hear it in full below.

Grohl previously told NME how those “nightmares of missiles in the air and soldiers in my backyard” came full circle after his daughter asked him in 2019 if the U.S. was on the brink of a nuclear war with North Korea.

“I took my daughter to school and it was about that time that the US and North Korea increased the tension with each other, and she saw it on the news,” the frontman recalled.

“She just asked me, ‘Dad, are we going to war?’ It made me think of how I felt when I was her age, and I just thought, ‘What a fucking dress!’

“How depressing is it that the childhood of this beauty and innocence can be robbed by this dark feeling of fear? So this is what ‘Waiting On A War’ is all about. “

‘Waiting On A War’ follows the previously released ‘Medicine At Midnight’ tracks ‘Shame Shame’ and ‘No Son Of Mine’.
