Lincoln Project Launches Trial During Republican Trial for Capitol Riots

In the ad, which lasts just over a minute, the anti-Trump GOP group asks for justice for Officer Brian Sicknick, who died as a result of the Capitol riot.

“In the Capitol Rotunda, the remains of a brave man rest in a place of honor,” the video begins.

“He died a hero,” the ad continues. “And now Brian Sicknick deserves justice.”

Sicknick died the day after the attack on the Capitol from injuries he sustained as he tried to protect the building and its occupants from the violent crowd. After his death, he received the rare distinction of lying in honor in the Capitol Rotunda.

The ad blames Trump and his allies for inciting the riot that caused Sicknick’s death and several other injuries.

“The mob that killed him and injured other Capitol police officers was not insane. It was sent there,” the voice report said as news material from Trump plays.

“I do not know if I will fight myself or if other people will do it,” the former president said in the clip.

The mob was “fed a diet of lies” that led to the uprising on January 6, and now those responsible must try to escape from the responsibility, “the ad reads.

“They did not strike the hundreds of blows that killed Brian Sicknick and hurt his colleagues, but they told the lie that caused their followers to act. The blood is on their hands,” the ad concludes.

The new ad is one of many that The Lincoln Project has directed at Trump over the past few months, and it comes following his accusation in the Senate.
