This week’s “SNL” brought back a gag from a few weeks ago, with the talk show “Oops You Did It Again”, where people apologize for the things they did that drove everyone crazy, hosted by Britney Spears (played as it was last time by Chloe Fineman).
It started with Chris Redd as Lil ‘Nas X, who infuriated conservatives this week with a new music video in which he does things like give Satan a lap dance. He also drove Nike crazy with some Nike sneakers that look satanic. The gag ended with Lil Nas X making up for it by giving God a lap dance for Easter weekend, but as Nas explained, that it was not the true God, but just a friend of his in costume.
Next up was Kate McKinnon as Warner Bros. ‘cartoon character Pepe Le Pew, who in part will not be in the new “Space Jam” movie because his whole thing is kind of … rape. McKinnon portrays Pepe as a problematic 20th-century French intellectual chain smoker and gossip, while also insisting that he is trying to improve, that he is in treatment for sex addiction.

Eventually, the gag came where it’s going to go – with Pete Davidson emerging as the creepy Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, amid an extremely bizarre and disturbing scandal. Short version: Gaetz is being investigated for possible sex trafficking with minors in connection with a serious corruption scandal in his home district. He is also accused of using prostitutes and drugs, and he * separately * shared non-consensual porn with other members of Congress. Of course, Pepe or Lil Nas X did not want anything to do with him.
At the end of the gag, Lil Nas X was acquitted. Pepe Le Pew was ‘not so innocent’. As for Gaetz, Britney said she could not legally declare him innocent or guilty, but encouraged the audience to ‘judge him by his face’.
