Usually it’s the contestants who get into trouble at The Bachelor, but this time the controversy has grown so great that it has Chris Harrison in its clutches. On Wednesday, The old guy The host issued an apology on social media for the “perpetuation of racism” after she volunteered for the defense Rachel Kirkconnell after photos appeared of her attending a fraternity formula in antebellum plantation in 2018. Harrison said Kirkconnell initially defended in an interview about Extra with the first Black Bachelorette, Rachael Lindsay, said Kirkconnell was ‘thrown to the wolves’ by the public. “Although I do not speak for Rachel Kirkconnell, my intention was simply to ask for mercy to give her the opportunity to speak on her behalf,” Harrison wrote. “What I now realize I did is do harm by speaking wrong in a way that perpetuates racism, and I’m so sorry about that.” Harrison specifically apologized to Lindsay for “not listening to her better on a subject of which she has first-hand knowledge” and promising to “do better” in the future. Kirkconnell, who is involved in multiple racial scandals, is still getting engaged to Matt James, who happens to be the first Black Bachelor in franchise history. Well, the hometown dates will surely be interesting this year, right?
