LG’s latest wireless vacuum automatically empties itself

LG’s new vacuum cleaner, the ridiculously named LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Compressor Plus, should be a little easier to empty than most cordless vacuum cleaners. The charging station is equipped with a ‘fully automatic dust removal system’, which sucks the contents of the rubbish bin into a dust bag while the appliance is loading.

We have seen similar automatic emptying features in robotic vacuum cleaners like the iRobot Roomba i7 Plus before, but LG’s solution is more unique in the world of cordless vacuum cleaners. Samsung sells a Clean Station to work with its upright vacuum cleaner, but to use it, the dust can must be removed first, rather than automatically taking off during charging.

As someone who regularly has to grab in the trash of his Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner to take out all the rubbish, I can see the call to automate the process. But for larger jobs, such as vacuuming an entire house or apartment, you will probably need to empty the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Compressor Plus center cleaner instead of waiting for it to empty automatically when it loads. Hopefully the charging stations’ dustbags are big enough (and cheap enough) that they don’t have to be emptied too often.

In addition to emptying its trash, LG says that the boot with a touch screen can also house the six accessories and nozzles of the vacuum cleaner, such as existing vacuum chargers from Dyson and Xiaomi. LG’s accessories include a 2-in-1 combination tool, a pair of pliers, a pet nozzle, a power mat nozzle and a power mop. The vacuum contains two batteries and removable washable filters.

LG’s press release does not say how much it will all cost or when it will be available. However, it promises that the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Compressor Plus will be on display at the virtual booth of this year’s virtual CES, so stay virtually engaged.
