LG’s OLED smart TVs are some of the best you can get, but you have to shell out a lot of money for them. While the company will begin rolling out its 2021 OLED television sets later this quarter, Amazon is a solid 2020 model. Now you can get the 55-inch LG CX OLED smart TV for $ 1,350 – that’s $ 650 off and almost the lowest price we’ve seen. Amazon’s standard retail price is $ 1,396, but there’s a coupon on the product page that you can redeem for an additional $ 47 off, reducing the final cost to $ 1,350. If you are a member of my Best Buy (it’s free to sign up), you can also get the same price there.

The CX TVs are part of LG’s mid-range OLED collection and feature the a9 Gen 3 AI processor 4K, 120Hz refresh rates and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync, Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos and more. They have webOS and have a “magic remote” that supports voice commands, but if you have an Alexa or Google Assistant device in your home, you can also control the TV with one of the virtual helpers. Since these are OLED sets, these TVs have the best color reproduction and blackest blacks you will find.

But as mentioned above, LG’s latest OLED sets will appear soon and they have a number of new features that the CX line does not have. The new C1 series, the new version of the CX family, features a Gen 4 processor, updated LG Sound Pro, a new version of webOS with improved ThinkQ AI and a new Game Optimizer that promises 1 millisecond response times, Low Input Delay and Support for HDMI 2.1.

If you want to be serious about getting the best OLED set that also has the latest gaming technology, you can wait until the 2021 models come out. US prices are unclear at the moment, but we do know that a 55-inch C1 series will cost € 2000 in Europe (which converts to US $ 2,420 in the US, but we expect the starting price to be a little lower than it). But if the 2020 CX OLED sets have all the features you were looking for in a new TV, now is a great opportunity to buy one at a good selling price.
