LG joins the ranks of manufacturers making big announcements ahead of CES 2021, with the South Korean electronics giant lifting the curtain on its new webOS 6.0 smart TV platform, which has a completely new design.
With an updated home screen that has been intuitively revamped, webOS 6.0 aims to provide faster access to your most-used applications, while also enabling content recommendations based on your viewing history.
In an effort to show as much information as possible at a glance, the new home screen will now take up the entire screen, unlike previous webOS versions that occupied only the bottom third of the screen.
It will be interesting to see if the new webOS 6.0 home screen will be just as fast as the previous pop-up implementation, which has long been praised for its speed.
LG has also revealed that its ThinQ AI has received an upgrade in webOS 6.0, providing support for new voice commands for both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
LG’s new Magic Remote
In addition to its revised smart TV platform, LG has also announced the arrival of a new and improved Magic Remote, which reportedly offers’ simpler controls if you use voice recognition with multi-AI offerings from LG ThinQ, Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant . ‘
Furthermore, the new Magic Remote offers one-touch NFC features, allowing users to tap their smartphone on the remote to share content directly on the screen.
LG’s new webOS 6.0 home screen and Magic Remote are available on the 2021 OLED, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell and UHD smart TVs.
