The 2021 versions of both the Lexus IS and the Lexus LS have focused on refining what the company calls its ‘Lexus Driving Signature’, which includes a new card for Lexus sedans in which management is a core selling point. If this report from Japan’s Best Motor Web Lexus can keep its promise by offering hot versions of both the IS and LS.
The compact, 3-Series Fight IS plans to get the natural 5.0-liter V-8 from the Lexus RC F, the report said. This is the return of the beloved IS F, a model that appeared for one generation in 2008 with the same 5.0 under the hood. The car has since been modified, delivering 472 hp in the RC F. It’s an incredible car, which makes the otherwise uncompetitive RC F desirable. But the company works with an outdated and cramped platform, one that requires large bumps in the passenger compartment to fit four-wheel-drive hardware, and still uses a six-speed gearbox in the four-wheel-drive configuration.
The Lexus spokesman wanted to ask in October whether the 5.0-liter V-8 would not even fit. The spokesman said whether the question of whether or not there is a new IS F on hand, but not completely denied. A source within Lexus says a new IS variant will be launched in the coming month, but declined to share details or confirm that it will be a 5.0-powered IS F.
If the rumor is to be believed, it is by far not the most powerful F-model in the funnel. Best Motor Web also says that a warmer version of the LC500 is coming, something that has long been rumored. Lexus has officially confirmed that it has a twin-turbo V-8 in development, but now we have reported specifications: a 4.0-liter twin-turbo mill delivering up to 660 hp and a torque of 479 lb ft. It’s a big figure that places the LC500 near Hellcat area, but it’s even wilder to think that the engine could also end up in the tame LS.
A Lexus spokesman, who is being reached for comment, says the company does not comment on future products. We’ll have to wait to see if any of these rumors pop up, but it’s definitely going to be nice to see Lexus take the big power battle to its German and Italian rivals.
