Lexington police are investigating the situation in the city center; people ask to avoid area

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington Police are asking people around downtown Short and Market St.

In a tweet, police say they are investigating an incident in the area.

The Kentucky Traffic Management Center says that Main St. appears to be between MLK and Broadway, and all intersecting streets are also turned off. Limestone is the standstill between Vine and Church St.

We have a crew on the corner of Main and Limestone, which is so close that the police are hiring people and drivers.

Police evacuated pubs and demolished other buildings in the city center.

We spoke to a former WKYT employee who was in a bar in the city center when the police came in to leave everyone as soon as possible.

We’re still waiting to talk to Lexington Police to get a better idea of what’s going on.

This story unfolds.
