The holiday season is almost over, but that does not mean that delays in packages delivered by the US Postal Service are over.
“This is absurd,” Melissa Walker told 13WHAM-TV. “It’s just not right.” Her frustration is boiled over as traditional mail, as well as packages remain entangled in a web of shipping and mail delays approaching the historic level.
Manufacturers will deliver deliveries on New Year’s Day, which is a shift. Unhappy customers during the holiday season expressed frustration over packages that never arrive, or at least days or weeks later than promised.
During the holiday season, we heard about lost or missing packages, and even some that arrived more than a month late. But what is mostly not reported are the other items that took weeks or never got to their destination.
Earlier in the fall, a report found that there were ‘significant’ and ‘increasing’ delays in the delivery of prescribed medicines by post during Louis DeJoy’s tenure. In it, the country’s largest pharmacies reported that they experienced delivery delays of 18-34%, which means that another 3-4 days are added.
It is unclear what the answer is, but some locals just want to see the USPS receive proper support from Congress so that it can work at full strength.
