Let’s look at the 1992 Royal Rumble

We are getting closer to this year Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV), scheduled for January 31, 2021 at the ThunderDome in St. Louis. Petersburg, Florida, where we will get two more Royal Rumble matches. That means WWE has spent time looking back at an older Royal Rumble match, and probably the best of them is the masterpiece that was already put together in 1992.

It was only the fifth Royal Rumble match in history, but I would be damned if they did not have an absolute home race from start to finish. Ric Flair competed at number 3 and put together a legendary performance that is arguably still the best we have ever seen in these types of competitions.

Here’s a clip from Flair talking about it with Stone Cold Steve Austin:

Flair became champion by winning the contest, then went on to stage and cut one of the most memorable promotions of all time.

We can only hope that one of the Royal Rumble matches this year is not close to this level.
