Legislature Honors Alabama’s Army Veterans – Yellowhammer News

The UAB medical community and the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) have issued good news: COVID-19 has not been defeated yet, but ‘we are on the 10-yard line’.

‘We need to continue to really follow the rules, vaccinate and we’ll have the best chance of getting through this. “We do not want to push the ball before we are in the end zone,” said Dr. Selwyn Vickers of UAB, senior vice president of medicine and dean of the UAB School of Medicine, said.

Vickers said he is grateful to UAB and the state has had the ability to get through a difficult time.

“It has only felt different in the last few weeks than the continuation of 2020,” Vickers said. “It now feels like we are actually in 2021 due to the vaccination and the decrease in the (COVID-19) cases we have seen.”
