LeBron’s first clip in ‘Space Jam’ is already a great NBA Twitter meme

‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ is expected to appear on HBO Max in July, which means we’ll soon be getting a full trailer for the pseudo sequel to the ’90s classic. But while we’ve already seen what Lakers and soon-to-be movie star LeBron James look like in the new Tune Squad jersey, Saturday, a preview for the upcoming Warner Bros. lead gave us our first (though brief) look at James in live action with Bugs Bunny.

James just shared the clip of himself on his Instagram account, and it looks like he might be excited about the movie, but it’s hard to say:

And just as he and WB probably planned, the quick glance was just enough for NBA Twitter (especially the Lakers segment) to become his latest, best meme:

Between the appearance of visible confusion on James’ face – can you say the early Oscars are buzzing, anyone? – and the awful horror on Bugs Bunny, it’s an incredibly versatile response meme that can be used for many more situations than above, and I expect we’ll start seeing it pretty often in the rotations of humans.

And who knows how good the movie is actually going to be, but the visual style looks really cool, and if it gives us more memes like this, nobody’s going to complain (okay, this is LeBron, so some people will complain anyway, but you know what I mean).

With just six months before the movie is going to go down, it will be a surprise if we do not get a trailer soon during a big, national television Lakers game or even during the Super Bowl. After all, it would be a lot of LeBron to steal the thunder of football on his day off, and hey, he already did.

But no matter when we get our next look, it was a fun first one. Or, to use the native language: ‘We when we first watched’ Space Jam: A New Legacy ‘.’

See? I told you it’s versatile.
