During the briefing, Rodriguez sends his condolences to the family of six-year-old provincial employee Roman Gonzalez, 59, who died of COVID-19. According to the commissioner, six employees have so far died of COVID-19.

Nirenberg said mayors in Texas and the U.S. are pushing for more doses of the federal government’s COVID-19 vaccine. He said the state’s stock would arrive three weeks ahead of schedule soon, and the state would notify the city of how many doses would come in so the city could fill appointments in advance.

Nirenberg also said the Fiesta Commission is meeting with health officials and leaders this week, expecting an announcement next week.
