Law firm appointed to assist in investigating Cuomo indictment, Biden comments on scandal to ABC News

NEW YORK (WABC) – New York State House Speaker Carl Heastie said he and chairman Charles Lavine on Wednesday morning will announce the hiring of a law firm that will assist the House Judiciary Committee in prosecuting the Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden in an exclusive interview with George Stephanopoulos on Tuesday told ABC News that the New York government should resign Andrew Cuomo if an investigation confirms that he committed sexual harassment.

“I know you said you wanted the investigation to continue,” Stephanopoulos told Biden. He refers to an investigation by the New York Attorney General into allegations that Cuomo harassed several women. “If the investigation confirms the women’s demands, should he resign?”

“Yes,” the president replied. “I think he will probably be prosecuted as well.”

One of Andrew Cuomo’s defendants also appeared in a radio program to talk about her allegations against the governor.

Former assistant Karen Hinton spoke on WNYC radio saying Cuomo was “excited” when he hugged her.

“He approached me and was too tight, hugged me for too long and was excited,” she said. “And I felt very uncomfortable and shocked about it.”

She says investigators moved quickly – and with sensitivity – to get to the heart of the allegations.

“We remain confident that their investigation will substantiate Charlotte’s allegations of sexual harassment against Government Cuomo, as well as the failure of its senior staff to comply with their mandatory reporting requirements under the laws it has signed,” Katz said. “She also provided detailed information about the sexually hostile work environment that the governor has cultivated in his offices in Manhattan and Albany and his deliberate efforts to create rivalry and tension among female staff members to whom he paid attention. came to light.the governor’s preoccupation with his hand size and what the large size of his hands indicated to Charlotte and other staff members. As we have already said, it is essential that this investigation is not limited to the actions of Governor Cuomo focus, but also on the culture of fear, abuse and secrecy that he and his most senior staff have cultivated. To do so, we have full confidence in the investigation and the investigators. We appeal to others who by the Governor to inappropriate action subject – and we know you out there – to come forward with what you have experienced. And to those who have observed the behavior, we urge you to diesel fde to do. “
