Latter-day Saint missionary drowns in El Salvador

A missionary from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died Wednesday when he drowned while serving in his homeland, El Salvador.

“Elder Fernando Antonio Ramos Garcia, 21, of Juayua, El Salvador, died Wednesday after drowning in a river in Nahulingo, Sonsonate,” said Sam Penrod. “His body was found this morning. Elder Ramos has been serving since March 2020. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with Elder Ramos’ family and loved ones as they remember his life and mourn his passing. We pray that they will feel the love of our heavenly Father in this tragic time. ”

Ramos Garcia served in the El Salvador San Salvador West / Belize Mission.
