Larry King’s wife, Shawn King, revealed his cause of death as well as the last words she spoke to him.
The iconic television host passed away on Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 87, leaving behind three living children, Larry Jr., Chance and Cannon, as well as his wife, Shawn.
No cause of death was given at the time of death, but he had already been admitted to hospital with a COVID-19 infection weeks earlier. In a new interview, his wife revealed that the broadcaster was not dead from the coronavirus.
“It was an infection, it was sepsis,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Well, he was finally ready to go, I’ll tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go, but his sweet body was just like that, it’s just hit so many times with so many things and as soon as we heard the word COVID, we all’s hearts just sank in. But he hit it, you know, he hit it, but it took its toll and then the unrelated infection finally took him, but boy, he would not undergo easily. ‘

Shawn said that King’s mind was ‘not right’ and that his ‘body was moving’, noting that it was a difficult thing to look at. The actress and King were in the middle of a divorce at the time of his passing. King filed for divorce in August 2019 after 22 years of marriage.

She confirmed the couple’s divorce was ‘never finalized’.
“In my heart I did not think it was really going to happen and it never happened. We were partners in every way, in the business world, and, well, first in our family and then in the business world. But we you are “A close family. You know, family is the most important thing, and God,” she said.
Shawn also touched on King’s last moments in the hospital. She said she and King’s children were able to get FaceTime right.

“And it was hard for him to speak, but the one message he wanted to ensure I heard was, ‘I love you, take care of the boys,'” she said.
King’s family laid him to rest in a private funeral this week. She said she still feels his strong presence around her.

“I feel him very, very clearly around me and around us. I’m sure he’s so happy about the cover she got going on … … Larry was a little boy in so many ways. And he always did, you have probably 30 different audio clips of him saying, “I pinch myself every day. I can not believe this is my life.” “And he really did it. All these beautiful tributes, you know, I’m probably excited, and the family, we’re all just so happy and so proud of him for all the wonderful things he did.”

King has been married to seven different women eight times in his entire life. Shawn was his last marriage and his longest.
Only a few months before his death, King lost two of his five grown children when Andy (65) and Chaia (51) died within weeks of each other. Andy had a heart attack while Chaia was battling lung cancer.
