Large fire broke out in apartment building in San Antonio

A massive fire broke out Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex in San Antonio, officials said.

The fire started at about 1pm at the Bexar County complex, KSTAT reported.

Residents recalled receiving a warning to turn off their water heater, and the fire broke out on the second floor moments later.

About 50 residents were evacuated from the building.

Firefighters had to bring in water to put out the flames because a nearby fire hydrant was frozen, according to WOAI-TV.

Videos and photos on social media shows black smoke blowing into the air while firefighters work at the scene.

No injuries were reported. Officials are continuing to investigate what caused the fire.
