Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, is holding out the possibility of running for a Senate seat in North Carolina in 2022.
On Wednesday night, she urged Americans to “stay informed” of her decision. Her comments come about a week and a half after Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, voiced support for her candidacy and called her the ‘future’ of the IDP.
Lara Trump commented on Fox News Hannity, after host Sean Hannity asked if she wanted to run for the seat.
After Hannity noted that Lara Trump’s name is frequently mentioned as a possible candidate in 2022, he said that the top Republican leaders in the state are supporting her possible candidacy. “Is this something that will leave you open for now, without asking a question, do you just leave the idea open in your mind?” he asked.
“Oh, absolutely,” Lara Trump replied. “Look, I took it very seriously and I have no decision to announce live here tonight on Sean Hannity. But I’ll tell you, stay tuned, because it’s definitely something I’ll do with honor. So, I’m keeping it open. Absolutely. “

Graham is one of the Republicans who supports Lara Trump’s possible candidacy. In a Feb. 14 Fox News interview, Graham said if she’s running, I’ll definitely be behind her because she represents the future of the Republican Party.
“My dear friend (current Republican North Carolina Senator) Richard Burr, whom I have loved and have been friends with for a long time, has just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the North Carolina Senate seat to replace him as his candidate,” he added.
Hannity also asked Lara Trump about the possibility of running for the seat when she appeared in his program on December 9, 2020.
At the time, a BUSR / UNLV Lee Business School poll showed Lara Trump as the preferred candidate among other potential 2022 Republican North Carolina Senate candidates. The poll showed her with 24 percent support from state voters. Former Republican Gov. Pat McCrory received just 23 percent. Another 39 percent of respondents said they had not decided on who they would support.
“I’m so flattered, I’m so humble,” Lara Trump said on Hannity’s show at the time. “It is my honor to represent the state. We’ll see. I’m open to anything. ‘
During the rest of Lara Trump’s appearance on Hannity Wednesday night, she discussed Donald Trump’s upcoming speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). CPAC describes itself as ‘the largest and most influential gathering of conservatives in the world’.
This year’s CPAC conference will feature seven talks on ‘election protection’, while Donald Trump, the event’s keynote speaker, still unjustifiably claims to have won the 2020 presidential election.
Lara Trump said she expects the former president’s CPAC speech to criticize Democratic President Joe Biden’s foreign policy toward Iran, China and his accession to the United States to the Paris climate agreement. She also expects Donald Trump to criticize Biden’s plan to grant citizenship to the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States for eight years.
CPAC will also have several sessions on its cancellation. The conference’s theme this year is ‘American Uncanceled’.
The CPAC conference recently canceled one of its own scheduled speakers, an online commentator and cultural critic named Young Pharaoh. The conference canceled its appearance over its past comments that fueled anti-Semitism and conspiracy theories.
