Lara Croft’s two timelines will be united, says the Tomb Raider studio

Crystal Dynamics plans to unite Lara Croft’s two canonical timelines as the Tomb Raider franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary, the studio said in a statement. Twitter video Wednesday afternoon.

The official celebration of the silver anniversary of Tomb Raider begins on February 1, said Meagan Marie, Crystal Dynamics’ community manager. Marie also pointed to the Tomb Raider Netflix animated series, which was announced on Wednesday, which also joins this official, unified timeline. The Tomb Raider anime takes place after the events in the reloading trilogy of the video game, which consists of 2013s Tomb Raider, 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raiderand 2018s Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Along the way, franchise game director Will Kerslake said, “We envision a future of Tomb Raider that will unfold into these established adventures” – referring to both the Core Design-developed games (1996s). Tomb Raider to 2003s Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness) and the series in the hands of Crystal Dynamics since 2006 Tomb Raider: Legend.

Although Crystal Dynamics’ does not have a major game announcement ‘in the near future, the studio is working to unify these timelines,’ Kerslake said.
