LANE COUNTY, Ore. Governor Kate Brown on Monday announced a goal to sharpen COVID-19 vaccinations to 12,000 shots per day, challenging OHA to meet this standard within two weeks.

“Governor Brown is setting a fair standard,” said Jason Davis, spokesman for public health in Lane County. “To achieve this, we need a versatile hybrid model where vaccination takes place at different levels.”
The province has plans for vaccination in the future, such as drive-through opportunities where members of the community can receive their first dose quickly and efficiently.
Davis also said that public health could be integrated into Phase 1B mobile units, as well as closed vaccination areas. Lane County Public Health has not yet received COVID-19 vaccines, but they work hand in hand with state leaders. They said they would be prepared when the time came.
Dr. James McGovern is the Vice President of Medical Affairs for Peace Health. He said they vaccinate their employees more than halfway.
“I think the vaccines are not getting out as fast as we would like,” McGovern said. “We want everyone to be vaccinated tomorrow. We certainly work hard, but they are here. They go in arms, and people are vaccinated. â
McGovern hopes that a significant portion of the community will be vaccinated by the summer. So far, they have been able to process 500 individuals per day.
“We built an engine that runs pretty well,” McGovern said. We just need the gas – the vaccine to keep it that way. We received a steady supply to keep up with our current demand. â
Davis said about 4,300 people have been vaccinated in Lane County, but that is likely to be higher due to contracts held by some pharmacies.
“We are at the end of the line when it comes to vaccine distribution,” Davis said. ‘It starts with our federal partners, goes to the state and the state works with provinces. You can rest assured that Lane County will be ready for action once we have the vaccine available in large doses to the general public. â
