Lancaster County to move to Phase 1B of vaccination on Friday

LINCOLN, Neb. (COLN) – Lancaster County health officials will begin vaccinating people in Phase 1B category, starting at age 80 and older.

According to Lincoln-Lancaster County Heath, Director Pat Lopez, Lancaster County, which is one of two Nebraska counties not yet in Phase 1B, will switch on Friday.

More information on who qualifies under Phase 1B can be found here.

The vaccines will be administered at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The City said it would contact people Tuesday to make appointments to get the vaccine from PBA.

Many viewers have NOW been contacted on 10/11 with questions about this process.

Many viewers wanted to know what the Department of Health is doing to accommodate people with mobility problems.

“We are extending the time to have more time, to have extra volunteers there, and by working street signs and others outside and providing assistance when they need it to park and get them in,” Lopez said.

Lopez said the clinic will be at the lower level; they will have wheelchairs, free parking in the attached garage and comfortable vehicles.

The province said Phase 1B would take months. It contains about 45,000 people in that age group, essential workers such as educators and police, and people with underlying conditions.

The city wants to remind people that if you’re in the category, you can not just show up. You must first register to get the vaccination on the country’s website.

If you do not have computer access, you can call 402-441-8006.

Lincoln City Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said at about 11:45 a.m., 66,000 people had registered for the vaccine through the Lancaster County Registry.

In addition, during the week of 15 February, the City will award all doses to independent retirement communities and work with local pharmacies to vaccinate people in their place of residence.
