LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Officials said on Tuesday a website enabling Lancaster County residents to register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine will be launched on Wednesday morning.

Health director Pat Lopez said the online form would be available at 8 p.m.

Registrants will be asked to provide basic information to determine in which phase they are falling, Lopez said.

They will then be notified and get an appointment when their vaccine is ready to be administered. People need to make appointments to get the vaccine.

Lancaster County currently administers vaccines to Phase 1A people, which includes health care staff (hospitals, home health care, pharmacies, EMS, outpatients, public health) and long-term care residents and staff.

Lopez said the province needs about 6,000 doses to move on to Phase 1B, which opens vaccinations for people 65 and older, people 18 and older with certain high-risk medical conditions, first responders and the education sector. It is expected that there will be 3,900 doses next week. Lopez said if the province receives the full 6,000 doses, they could complete Phase 1A by the end of next week.

People who do not have internet access or who would like to speak to a human representative can call 402-441-8006 for assistance with registration.

Officials say the province will merge with the state registration website, which according to government officials is likely to start by the end of the month. People who have registered via the province website do not need to register again.
