Lana Del Rey announces new album ‘Rock Candy Sweet’

Lana Del Rey has announced a new album ‘Rock Candy Sweet’ – a record that she says will challenge the accusations of ‘cultural appropriation and glamorization of domestic abuse’.

The announcement comes just days after she released her seventh studio album ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’ last Friday (March 19).

The singer announced ‘Rock Candy Sweet’ in a post on Instagram. It will be released on June 1st.

Del Rey confirms ‘Rock Candy Sweet’ is a new album in a message to her Instagram Stories, in which she responds to a Harper’s Bazaar article, published in January, entitled “Lana Del Rey Can’t Qualify to Be Responsible”.

Regarding a screenshot of the article, Del Rey wrote in a red text: ‘I want to thank you once again for the friendly articles like this and for reminding me that my career was built on cultural appropriation and the glorification of domestic abuse. I will continue to challenge the mind on my next album titled ‘Rock Candy Sweet’ on June 1st. ”

In another Instagram story, Del Rey shares a screenshot of a paragraph from the Harper’s Bazaar article pointing out lines that referred to comments she made in January about the cover art of ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, in which she said: ‘There are coloreds on this record photo.’

She later elaborated on her comments, saying: ‘I knew what people were going to say. When they actually started saying things, I replied and I just said, ‘I have a lot of problems, but inclusivity is not one of them.’ It’s just not. You can’t just make it my problem. ‘

The Harper’s Bazaar article also refers to comments Del Rey made about former US President Donald Trump and the storms of the US Capitol. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Annie Mac, she said she did not think Trump knew he was inciting a riot and said he had ‘delusions of grandeur’.

Del Rey later explained her comments, which, according to her publications, took him out of context: ‘Trump has been so severely harmed that he may not know what he is doing because of his significant lack of empathy, and the problem of sociopathy is the bigger problem. and narcissism in America, ”she said.

“The defense note was unnecessary because no one criticized Del Rey significantly for including ‘coloreds’ in her upcoming album,” the Harper’s Bazaar article read. “And her need to distance herself from the Nazi-led riot on Capitol Hill was also newsworthy given Del Rey’s long-standing public opposition to former President Donald Trump.”

In her Instagram story, Del Rey writes in a red text about a screenshot of the passage above: ‘You were right, it would have been unnecessary if no one had criticized anything significant at the beginning of the album. But you have. And I want revenge. ”
