No matter where you are currently in the world, it is clear that the pandemic has forced us to get creative. As such, Indian photographer Kunaal Kelkar would fly to Italy and drive the Lamborghini Urus, but Covid obviously had other plans. The Italian carmaker sent him a 1:18 scale model to examine him and asked to see what he could think of.
“Since we missed the opportunity to travel to Italy due to the lockdown, we wanted to show the Urus to the Amalfi Coast and how the Urus could gain access to a picturesque coastal area where there are no roads,” Kelkar said.

After much deliberation, his partner suggested that he use his pool as a substitute for the Italian coastline. With some expert camera deceivers – to submerge the camera and place the scale model on some rocks, he achieved a pretty convincing shot. Some fine work on photoshop, however, turned the fun exercise into a legally usable brochure photo.
After the first shot, Kelkar wanted to create another scene of the Italian SUV on the beach. Fortunately, this example was much less labor intensive and he did not need to immerse his camera in water – for the previous recording he used the clear plastic topper for the model to lower his camera safely into water without it destroy.
After showing this textbook of fake making until you make it, we would like to see a post-pandemic recording of all these photos with the real car; we just hope it does not cost to accidentally plunge several Lamborghini SUVs into the sea.
