Jayro Bustamante’s movie among the finalists for the Oscars
The movie La llorona —Protagonized by actress Maria Mercedes Coroy— has a long history, being selected between the top 15 best-in-the-world movies to compete for a nomination at the Oscars.
Following the announcement on the Academy’s portal, a list of 93 participating countries, finally, includes the list of the 15 finalists for the International Largometraje category, among the qualifiers, Guatemala dice presente.

It’s for now La llorona will take place in the next round of voting, in which members of the Academy of all frames will be invited to be part of the jury to see the 15 pre-selected papers and elect the nominees.
