LA County is lagging behind in other Southern California counties with the opening of vaccinations for people 65 and older, but health officials in the province say their goal is to provide the vaccine to the age group in early February – a goal is, according to them, dependent on the vaccine supply.
Currently, LA County only offers the vaccine to health care workers and skilled residents and nursing staff, despite the fact that the state is eligible for residents 65 and older. Provincial officials say they do not yet have adequate doses locally to begin vaccinations for residents of that age group.

Health officials say there are about 1.3 million people 65 years and older in the country, with a population of 10 million. More information on the distribution of the country’s vaccine is available on the website.
There are reports that states next week may not receive their expected vaccine shipments from the national stock because the federal reserve of doses has already been depleted. Gavin Newsom says California has already received 3 million doses and more would be expected from the federal government.
Newsom says California would expect hundreds of thousands of doses, and that they still wanted answers from the Trump administration, and they are working with the incoming Biden administration to get answers on when they can receive more vaccinations.
As LA County approaches 1 million COVID-19 cases, the province announced Friday that it will open five additional vaccination sites for masses. Dodger Stadium opened as a vaccination site on Friday.

The new locations begin Tuesday and could vaccinate 4,000 people a day at each location. The country hopes to complete 500,000 additional vaccinations by the end of the month. The new super premises will be located at:
– Fairplex in Pomona
– The Forum in Inglewood
– Cal State University in Northridge
LA County Education Office in Downey
– Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia
Meanwhile, local leaders, such as City Council President Nury Martinez, are calling for the creation of a waiting list for people aged 65 and over, as well as those at the forefront as vital workers to vaccinate more people faster .
