LA Clippers play Kawhi Leonard and Paul George over COVID-19 protocols

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were suspended on Tuesday for the LA Clippers game against the Atlanta Hawks due to NBA health and safety protocols.

The two stars did not join the team on the flight to Atlanta on Monday, sources told ESPN.

The Clippers will be without their two best players and starting point guard Patrick Beverley (sore right knee) as they carry a seven-game winning streak to Atlanta for the start of a six-round road trip.

Depending on the scope of the NBA protocols, Leonard or George could potentially join this team, sources said.

Leonard, George and Beverley played Sunday during the 108-100 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, George was kept out of the last four plus minutes with the hamstring strain and Beverley did not play in the second half due to the knee injury.

Beverley also did not undertake the trip to Atlanta, sources said.

Leonard played his best basketball of the season, averaging 32.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in the Clippers’ past three wins.

George enjoys a bounce season with an average of 23.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
