Kylie Jenner sparked outrage on Twitter this past weekend after she urged fans to contribute to an online fundraiser for artist Samuel Rauda, who was involved in a serious incident and underwent surgery last week.
Jenner, 23, who worked with Rauda, recently promoted a GoFundMe page dedicated to funding his medical expenses on her Instagram story, telling her 222 million followers: ‘Swipe up to visit his families [sic] go finance me, ”according to The Sun.
The request did not go down well with the fans, who noted that Jenner could possibly fund the cost, as she has an estimated net worth of just under $ 900 million.
“Why does kylie jenner ask for donations to fund her makeup artist when she’s a billionaire,” tweeted a user.
“If I were as rich as Kylie Jenner, I simply would not have asked the internet on the internet to donate for my best friend’s brain surgery, but we all built differently, I think!” another posted.
“Why does Kylie Jenner not pay her make-up artist enough to afford an operation of 60 000? This is the right question. Her business is makeup. He’s her makeup artist! He does not bring in millions?!? ” wrote one.
Earlier this week, a GoFundMe page was set up to cover Rauda’s medical expenses. Under a list of top donations, a ‘kylie jenner’ appears to be donating $ 5,000.
As of Sunday, more than $ 97,000 had been raised with a goal of $ 120,000.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to Samuel,” organizer Johanna Portillo posted on the page on Saturday. ‘We have felt the love and know that your constant prayers for healing are greatly appreciated. It was uplifting to see how Sam not only brought a ray of brilliance into our lives, but also to many people around the world.
“It’s been a week since Sam’s accident. It was not easy. In the midst of it all, Sam continues to fight and shows us how strong he really is. Keep sending prayers his way, ”she continued.
Amid Sunday’s setback, some have defended Jenner online.

A Jenner representative did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
