According to local law enforcement, a teenager at a Kroger grocery store in Atlanta stole nearly $ 1 million.
Like the New York Times authorities, authorities accuse 19-year-old Tre Brown of making more than 40 false repayments with various credit cards. Brown allegedly did the transactions, which ranged from $ 75 to more than $ 87,000 in December and January, while a supermarket compliance officer was away from their post.
Brown allegedly spent stolen funds on two cars, weapons, clothing, shoes and other items. It is unclear how much he spent on these various items, which totaled $ 980.00. According to police, the teenager apparently had a Chevrolet Camaro that he bought before his arrest.
The alleged theft was spotted by a Kroger employee who reported it to police. Gwinnett County law enforcement has the Times that a large sum of the amount was returned after Brown’s arrest on January 14th. He is now facing a charge of theft.
Brown worked in the Kroger store in the fuel center. Collin Flynn, a spokeswoman for the Gwinnett County Police Department, told the Times that the former employee claims to be returning lottery tickets, which detectives are trying to determine if they were manufactured or not.
Kroger thanked the Gwinnett County Police Department but declined to comment on the ongoing investigation. Brown was released on a $ 11,200 bond the same day he was arrested.
