Kristy Swanson defends Trump against ‘canceling culture’ and demands removal from John Hughes films

Kristy Swanson is toasted by fellow celebrities after defending Donald Trump against calls to remove his cameo digitally from ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’.

As the president faces a historic second indictment, many on social media want his short cameo over the 1992 holiday film, written and produced by the late John Hughes, digitally removed from future iterations.

The social media campaign asked actor Macaulay Culkin to say he approves of the change. At the scene, Trump sees Culkin’s Kevin McCallister character directions in a hotel portal.

Swanson, an outspoken supporter of Trump, took to Twitter to defend himself against what his “culture cancels”.

“If Cancel Culture really wants Donald J. Trump removed from the John Hughes film ‘Home Alone’, then, in support of MY PRESIDENT, I want to be officially removed from the John Hughes ‘films,’ Pretty In Pink ‘and’ Day Off by Ferris Buhler ” she wrote.

Many quickly remarked that the roles Swanson was referring to were not exactly essential to the plot of one of the beloved films. She played a short non-speaking role at the end of ‘Pretty in Pink’ and gave a very short speech in a classroom during ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’.

Among the critics who targeted Swanson’s statement were fellow celebrities such as Jane Lynch, who mocked Swanson write on Twitter: “I’m sorry. Who are you?”

Yvette Nicole Brown followed write later: “Were you in those movies?”

Comedian Patton Oswalt also looked at Swanson a bit and used a bit of self-deprecating humor.

“It’s weak, Kristy,” he wrote. “I was removed from AS GOOD AS IT GETS and BAD CHRISTMAS years before Trump even thought of running for president. That’s how I support MY leader. Why do you hate America?”

In December 2019, Trump’s cameo in the beloved holiday movie was completely removed by the Canadian Broadcast Company. The editing was charged with mixed reviews.

According to Comicbook.com, the CBC at the time gave a reason for the removal, claiming that the amendment was “to allow commercial time within the format.”
