In the last month of 2020, many wrestling companies started talking about the possibility of working together; AAA and CMLL can not get along.
AEW and IMPACT Wrestling have started working together, and who knows what 2021 will bring for the two companies. Triple H also said that WWE is ‘open to business’ when it comes to potential partnerships and collaborating with other companies, so it’s an exciting time to love professional wrestling.
Yet the two biggest wrestling programs in Mexico are not active for various reasons. The last time the two companies worked together, it did not end well, with the matches feeling more like a shootout between the wrestlers than a job.
Konnan, who has worked for WCW, IMPACT Wrestling, Lucha Underground and numerous other promotions worldwide, has tried in the past to get AAA and CMLL to work together, but it just does not work.

Konnan recently spoke with Michael Morales Torres of Lucha Libre Online and spoke openly about his frustrations about AAA and CMLL for not abandoning their past to build a better future for both companies.
‘I tried to help them work together. But there is a natural paranoia. One company may not trust the other, or they may have had problems in the past and the scar has not healed yet. And I say, ‘Brother … What does it matter? What is important is to give people something different. Your champion is coming here. The champion from here goes there. ‘You bring a wrestler and do a three-month program here and another wrestler there. And we all help each other. It is not like, for example, that New Japan (NJPW) does not work with us (AAA) because they work with the CMLL, i.e. Consejo. The Consejo (CMLL) is not working with AAA due to a problem that occurred between two men who are no longer here (both founders are dead).
“Imagine that guy! I do not even think that Dorian (AAA’s owner) was only born when the problem started. Maybe he was just a boy. Sofia (owner of CMLl) was just a girl. I think they do not even know each other. I do not know if I declare myself. Then they drag. They once had an event here called ‘Padrísimo’. Televisa (TV network) has the two companies (AAA and CMLL) let them work together.Yes, and they really wrestled each other.They fought each other.FOR REALLY! The fanboys (fans) of CMLL are like the fans of WWE, but worse yet.They are thrown as if you have no idea.Can you ‘think if these companies did something together? would fill the whole country for years. But there are egos. There is no other f ****** thing than ego.’
