Konami’s production restructuring did not close the gaming division

When you gather little jokes, you’re like a needlework …

Last week, industry giant Konami announced it would undergo some sort of corporate restructuring, consolidate some of its internal divisions and rearrange its staff to better streamline its production division in response to a rapidly changing market. What he did not do, however, was ‘close the game’.

It was the word that quickly spread on the internet yesterday and appeared everywhere on social media, despite the fact that it was announced on January 15th. In response to this rapidly spreading rumor, the longtime developer sent an official statement written quickly, to IGN, confirming that it mostly works at Konami as usual.

“The announcement made refers to an internal restructuring, with production divisions being consolidated,” the statement said. “We did not ‘close’ our video games section.”

In essence, these changes simply shift several top executives into new roles, while officially disbanding multiple production divisions and then restructuring them into larger divisions. Staff from each disbanded division are expected to move on to roles in the new teams. Konami’s restructuring will take effect from February 1, 2021.

So, do not worry, Konami is still there not to make a new one Quiet hill.
