Konami turns Frogger into a game show for NBC’s Peacock

Konami uses the Frogger brand for a new reality competition series for Peacock, the streaming service of NBC Universal. The classic arcade game is adapted into the TV show Frogger, described as a “fierce and ridiculously fun competition” in which participants compete in 12 obstacle courses. And yes, that includes avoiding ‘treacherous traffic’.

According to a news release, Frogger participants will also have to “jump over brackets and jump over hungry hippos to conquer the track.” Presumably, those wild animals will be simulated as part of a relatively safe obstacle course in the manner of Obliteration, Extreme elimination challenge, en American Ninja Warrior – partly because Peacock shows its new game show as a wild, whimsical Frogger world. ‘

The original Frogger was developed by Konami and released in Ska and Gremlin in arcades. Frogger had a short-lived TV presence in the early 1980s Saturday Supercade, an animated series featuring Konami’s famous frog starring Donkey Kong, Q * Bert and Pitfall Harry. In Saturday Supercade, Frogger was a reporter for The Swamp Gazette, chasing stories and avoiding threats such as alligators and traffic.
