We have heard many new leaks and rumors related to a possible remake or sequel Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic the past month. Although none of these rumors have been directly confirmed, given the large number that have emerged, it goes without saying that the circulation is accurate. Now more information has emerged that gives us an idea of how long it has been new KOTOR was apparently at work.
Seen by Reddit user u / mtol115, Aspyr, the studio rumored to be working on this new job Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game apparently brought in a variety of previous BioWare staff members in 2019. The user discovered that about 20 former BioWare developers are currently being staffed at Aspyr. While some of these former BioWare employees have been with Aspyr for some time, others eventually joined the studio in 2019 in the lead roles.

As a whole, this information appears to indicate that the new iteration of Knights of the Old Republic has probably been in development since 2019. When studios usually start working on new projects of this kind, they will simultaneously take on board a variety of new appointments. The fact that so many developers from another prominent studio working mainly on RPGs finally joined Aspyr by 2019 seems to indicate that the game has been in production since that time.
Depending on the scope of this new remake / sequel to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, this news can tell us a few things about when the match should be expected. Most AAA games tend to develop on average between three and five years. As such an release for this new KOTOR game in 2021 seems quite unlikely as a result.
That said, it does seem possible that we may see a resurgence in the series in a different form again this year. Other rumors in recent weeks have indicated that Aspyr is also working on carrying out the first two Knights of the Old Republic games to modern consoles at some point later in 2021. Again, we do not yet know if this is entirely true, but given how many other Star Wars games have been transferred in recent years, it is extremely plausible.
