The Mets were not the only local team to deal with rain issues on Sunday.
The Knicks’ game against the Raptors was delayed by a few minutes by 3:58 left in the third quarter after water dripped from the ceiling at Madison Square Garden.
A spokesman for the team said there was a ‘small drop of rain’ coming from the ceiling but it was ‘corrected’.
Players from both teams looked up at the ceiling during the 14-minute delay while court staff dipped the water with a towel.
After the game resumed, the staff member wiped the area inside the key in front of the Knicks’ defensive basket after each Toronto possession.
A few hours earlier, the Mets had suspended their game against the Marlins after a rain delay of 2 hours and 10 minutes.
The teams, to the great displeasure of Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman, tried to play through the rain for seven minutes before finally being called off.
