An event decided by the game caused an angry New York Knicks to be escorted off the court Monday, and you would be shocked to hear that Scott Foster was involved.
In the final seconds of the New York Knicks game against their rival Brooklyn Nets, Julius Randle took the ball by three points with three points. Randle jumps to take a three-pointer that is contested by Kyrie Irving but holds the ball and lands.
At first glance, it was a hand-and-down journey. However, a repeat showed Irving hitting the ball when Randle went up to shoot:
Randle disputes Foster’s travel call immediately, but the official does not even let the call go after an immediate repeat.
The Nets soon defended the game with a couple of James Harden free throws, on which Randle apparently wanted to fix the score. Immediately after the game ended, Randle approached the midfield and seemed to be looking for someone, until his teammates pushed him back to their locker room.
Randle took out his frustrations on a chair as he entered the tunnel:
The call and dispute was an ugly end to a great night for Randle, who finished with 33 points on 13-of-27 shooting, 12 rebounds, six assistants and three poles.
After the game, Randle refused to say anything good about the situation:
There was a conversation, but I think it’s just best that I do not comment on the situation. There is a lot of frustration behind it, for both sides. I’ll just let it go in the past and just move on to the next game.
Meanwhile, the Foster said a reporter that he considered Irving that he had touched the ball, but that he had not loosened it, which made it a journey in his eyes.
Randle averaged 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game on Monday, all of which were in a playoff season for the former seventh overall pick.
