Kirk Herbstreit, Greg McElroy positive for COVID, plans for CFP changed

With the semifinals of the College Football Playoff series, ESPN analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Greg McElroy both announced on Tuesday that they had tested positive for COVID-19.

Both went to Twitter to announce the positive tests and to say they seem to be feeling well.

“Earlier this week, I tested positive for COVID,” Herbstreit tweeted. “Luckily I feel good and it’s good with my family, but following protocols will keep me at home. I will be working from home on January 1st on College GameDay (9 am-12pm) and later that day on the call for the Sugar Bowl with Chris (Fowler), Maria (Taylor) and Tom (Rinaldi). Can’t wait for the rematch between Clemson and Ohio State. ”

Meanwhile, McElroy – a former Alabama fullback – will miss his commissions for the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl.

‘This is my favorite week of the year. “I was so excited to go home, to DFW, to call the (Cotton Bowl game) and then to be on the radio call for the (Rose Bowl game),” McElroy tweeted. “Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID. I’m disappointed, but I’m feeling good and hope to be back soon. Appreciate you! ”

McElroy would be on ESPN’s call of the Cotton Bowl, which will take place Wednesday at the AT&T Stadium between 6 Oklahoma and Florida 7. The kick-off is set for 18:00 (19:00 ET).

In September, Herbstreit was exposed to COVID and tested negative and participated in ‘GameDay’.
