THQ Nordic has announced the action RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a 2012 remaster Kingdoms of Amalur: Settlement, will be released on March 16 on Nintendo Switch.
The release will be the first time Kingdoms or Amalur has been launched on a handheld console, and it sounds like Switch owners want to do it right. Three DLCs will be included in total – The Teeth of Naros, Legend of Dead Kel and Weapons and Armor bundles – which, along with the base game, reportedly ‘offer hundreds of hours of exploration, dynamic combat and adventure’. Oh, and the music is by former-rare staff Grant Kirkhope, which is nice.
Here is an official description:
The hit RPG returns! From the minds of bestselling author RA Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion chief designer Ken Rolston comes Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. Remastered with beautiful graphics and refined gameplay Re-Reckoning delivers intense, customizable RPG battles within an expansive game world. Discover the secrets of Amalur, from the vibrant city of Rathir to the vast region of Dalentarth to the gloomy wells of the Brigand Hall Caverns. Save a world torn apart by a brutal war and control the keys to immortality as the first warrior ever resurrected from the grips of death.
Players have the task of building their own character from an ‘innumerable’ combination before developing their class and tackling enemies to a great extent. There is plenty of content and worldwide knowledge to explore, as well as a number of side-quests to keep you going for hours and hours.
There is also more going on, as THQ Nordic has confirmed plans for a brand new expansion of Kingdoms of Amalur called ‘Fatesworn’. Details are still thin at the moment, but we are told to expect it to come later this year.
