Kingdom Hearts 4 Teaser possibly unveiled in Kingdom Hearts 3

It looks like Kingdom Hearts III could have hidden a preview in the game that can tell players where the series is headed. Although the information recently uncovered relates to anything else, what is described seems to be consistent with what we know about the future of the Kingdom Hearts franchise as a whole.

Seen on Reddit by user Blubbpaule, it looks like the back of the box of Verum Rex, which is a fictional game set inside Kingdom Hearts III, may provide some annoyances about where the series is going. For those who like the whole of Kingdom Hearts III, and the associated Re Mind DLCVerum Rex eventually plays a rather important role, as his world is a world in which Sora is trapped. In the events of Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, it is discovered that the name of this world in which Sora lies is specifically called Quadratum.

On how this packaging from Verum Rex can tease the future of the series, it seems to give some details about Quadratum as a whole. The box contains mentions of the ‘King of Truth’ and it also seems to encourage players to ‘claim your heart back’. Whether this should be specifically referred to Sora, however, is not really clear. There is also mention of something called ‘Karma’, but it is uncertain what it could be. At this point, Kingdom Hearts III has not managed to say anything about Karma, but if it is indeed a preview as we think, we may mention it more in future entries.

No matter what the truth may be, it looks like Square Enix is once again playing 4D chess when it comes to the storytelling of Kingdom Hearts. This is a series that has long been played with its fans in terms of world building, and assuming this tease is actually a tease, it’s not surprising to see it happen from scratch.

The only downside is that at the moment, it looks like the next mainline Kingdom Hearts game could still be pretty far away. Luckily, if you haven’t played any entries in the series yet, almost the entire saga will hit a computer later this month on March 30th.
