After an unedited photo of Khloe Kardashian swinging a bikini pool was shared on social media, the “Revenge Body” star and her company immediately took action to scrape the image from the internet.
Now Kardashian is talking about the incident. She shared a post on Instagram Wednesday night of pristine photos and videos and wrote about how hard it is to live in the spotlight.
“Hey guys, it’s me and my body untouched and filtered,” she said. “The photo posted this week is beautiful. But as someone who’s struggled with body image all her life, if someone takes a photo of you that is not flattering in bad lighting or does not capture your body as it is after you have worked so hard to achieve it – and then shared it with the world – you must have every right to ask that it not be shared – no matter who you are. ‘
She added that the “constant mockery and judgment in my whole life of being perfect and being at others’ standards of how I should look is too much to bear.”
The star “Keeping up with the Kardashians” listed some of the cruel comparisons that have been made about her over the years.
“You never quite get used to being judged and pulled apart and told how unattractive a person is, but I would say if you hear something enough, you will start to believe it,” she said. “This is how I am conditioned to feel that I am not beautiful enough to be just me.”
The photo in question showed Kardashian in a swimsuit by a pool and doing the round online. It looks like her company has issued removal notices to those who have shared them, as several online accounts have deleted their posts with the image.
“The color-processed photo was taken at a private family gathering of Khloe and accidentally posted by a social media assistant,” Tracy Romulus, head of marketing at KKW Brands, told Page Six.
“Khloe looks beautiful, but it’s within the copyright’s right not to take a picture that does not want to be published.”
Kardashian’s statement on Wednesday – accompanied by several photos and videos showing off her stunning looks – echoed sentiment. She wrote that she would ‘unapologetically’ continue to use filters and editing to ‘introduce me to the world the way I want to be seen’, just as she wears make-up and has her nails done.
“My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It is up to no one to decide whether to judge what is acceptable or not,” she said.
